Steel Plow-John Deere was a American blacksmith and manufacturer who found who found Deere & Company, one of the largest and leading agricultural and construction equipment manufacturer in the world. Born in Rutland, Vermont, Deere moved to Illnois and invented the first commercially successful steel plow in 1837.

Steam shovel-The steam shovel was invented by William Otis, who recieved a patent for his design in 1839. Officially the patent drawing is missing but a drawing exists which is said to be the one from the patent and this shows the crane mounted on a railroad car. A load of earth could be lifted by the bucket, raised by the crane and the turned to be dumped, such as in railcars.

Postage Stamp- The Englishman Sir Rowland Hill began interest in postal reform in 1835. In 1836, a Member of parliment, Robert william, Provided Hill with numerous books and documents, which Hill described as a “half hundred weight of material”. Hill commenced a detailed study of these documents, leading him to the 1837 publication of a pamphlet entitled “post office reform its importance practicability”.

Vulcanized Rubber- Charles Goodyear was born in New Haven, Conneticuit, the son of Amasa Goodyear, and the oldest of six children. In 1814, Charles left his home and went to Philidelphia to learn hardware business. He worked industriously until he was twenty-one years old, and then, returning to Conneticuit, entered into partnership in his father’s business. He invented the Vulcanized rubber in 1839.
