history Lesson 15 What I learned this week

I learned about pencils this week. The British had these pencils which were called quilts and everybody in Europe wanted better pencils than the British, the germans tried creating better pencils but they couldn’t but then the Napoleonic wars one of Napoleon’s inventors called Conte created the Conte pencil by mixing clay and ink together. I also learned about roads. The Romans built these roads made of layers to make sure that it was intact, a Scots man John McAdam born in Scotland worked with his uncle in the Thirteen Colonies and he’d pay the British navy to destroy ships during the American revolution but since they lost the war he had to flee back to Great Britain then he began experimenting on roads he traveled to southern England and then continued experimenting and it became a obsession.
