Lesson 55 The 4 things I learned this week

The ether. Crawford Long, born in Georgia 1815, spent many years to become a doctor and he moved home to Georgia to practice. Long noted the properties and effects of ether on people and then in 1842 he started using ether as a anesthetic.

The fax machine. Alexander Bain invented the fax machine. He was born in Scotland 1811, he was apprenticed to be a clock maker and moved to London. he learned about electromagnet field theory and then combined clockmaking and electricity to invent a copying machine.

The steam powered iron passenger ships. Isambard Brunel born in England 1806, he educated his father and his school and was apprenticed to clockmaker. He assisted father Marc with Thames Tunnel and he built bridges and the great western roads he also wanted to add some ships and then in 1843 he invented the iron steamship.

The ice cream maker. Making ice cream was labor intensive and you had to scrape the ice cream on the sides of the bucket. Nancy Johnson invented the hand cranked ice cream maker and patented it in 1843.
