History lesson 40 The 4 things I learned this week

The electromechanical relay. Joseph Henry born in New York in 1797, was interested in science at age 16 so he became a state engineer after college and then he became a science professor in 1826 age 29 then invented the multiple coil magnet in 1831, built the relay in 1835.

The revolver. Samual Colt born in 1814, became fascinated with science as a teenager, built his own battery and then went off to sea to become a sails men because he was trying to impress one of his friends with explosives and started a fire. Samual wanted to create a gun that could kill someone in one shot and that’s when he came up with the revolver, then he invented the revolver in 1835.

The morse code. Samual Morse born in 1791, Attended Yale and became a painter and was also good at painting presidential portraits. One day he heard his wife was getting better from her sickness, then the next day he heard his wife had died. he was very sad about his wife’s death, he spent days morning his wife then that’s when he swore that he would never let anybody suffer the pain he did and in 1836 morse code.

The circuit breaker. Charles Grafton Page born in 1812, was very excited about electricity as a boy, so excited that this one time there was a thunderstorm he climbed on his parents house with a shovel and tried to attract the lightning, he went to medical school and opened up his own office and he gained deep insight of electromagnetism and then around 1836 he invented the circuit breaker.
